WALKING GROUP  SPECIAL INTERESTS

Bristol 1904 Arts: The Walking Group

This Walking Group  is yet another of the many Special Interest Groups within Bristol 1904 Arts and is headed up by Dr. Geoff Wright.

Well, Geoff as many of you will know or will get to know, is great in organising his many interesting Walking Group bimbles and fine country pub lunches across the counties.  The walks themselves are not too demanding with distances varying between 4 to 6 miles, often with short-cuts as required.  Terrain is generally gentle - crampons are seldom required!! 😀

The general plan is we meet monthly and our aim is to enjoy exercise, each others good company, conversation and lunch.   Locations and destinations are varied - towns, villages, canals and countryside.  By way of walking locations, we cover woodlands, flowers, architecture, industrial past and local history.

But as a flavour of the Walking Group activities;  in November 2019 we had the November Navigation in and around Castle Coombe. This was followed by the Christmas Crawl, in December, with an interesting tour of the Arnos Vale cemetery which included Christmas mince pies and sherry by the Valentine Bridge in the Bristol’s Temple Quay area before a smashing buffet lunch at the Riverstation restaurant in the thriving Bristol City Centre harbourside area.

Then in January 2020 we had the January Journey to Bradford-upon-Avon and a final February Frolic to the Caen Flight Locks, in Devises - a masterpiece in waterway engineering.

Check out the photos and videos to the side to see the fun going on!

Walking Group members and their partners - all are welcome.  Why not look us up and give us a go!  This is something  fantastic to enjoy regularly as a member of Bristol 1904 Arts!
