Around this time every year, about a month into our new season, BRISTOL 1904 ARTS has one of its key events in the calendar, we call the Green Feather Supper. The Society's Green Feathers are the General Members as distinct from the Entertainers (Blue Feathers) and Artists (Red Feathers).
It's all just part of the fun of being a member: dressing up, a fine meal (humbly called a supper!), a few drinks, entertainment and each others good company.
And not to be missed is our quirky tradition of the "Calling for the Cheese" at the end of the meal and the subsequent, "Procession of the Cheese" and of course ... there's a silly '1904' song to go with procession, sung to the tune of The Quartermaster's Stores with more dressing up for those carrying the cheese ....
The Cheese is always stilton with grape and celery accompaniments and the main meal has reverted this year, to the old tradition of "Boiled Silverside of Beef" with Carrots and other veggies and Piccallilli Pickle. Believe you me ... it tastes much, much better than it might sound. (And Vegetarian options, of course, are available).
Same again next year, please !!!
Quirky tradition of the "Procession of the Cheese"!
