The 20th May saw five
Snappers
take the opportunity of the easing of lock-down restrictions to visit Severn Beach for a photographic session.
Jonathan Bolgar, Roger Bonner, Peter Jones and Bob Pigott caught the train from Bristol and joined Martin Woodhead in Severn Beach for a few hours of photography and a lot of verbal catching up.
Despite regular monthly meetings through Zoom this was the group’s first physical meeting since September 2020 when they had made a similar excursion to Portishead Marina.
The very inconsistent May weather cooperated with the exercise and the day passed without any showers. Although the four railway travellers did get quite damp as they walked to their respective points of departure in the early morning.
Unfortunately it was a little overcast throughout the actual time spent on photography. Thus the sky was quite bland. However, the first and second Severn Crossings, the incoming tide, the huge skies and distant Welsh hills provided dramatic back drops for photographs of children on the beach, solitary fishermen hunched expectantly over skyward pointing rods, and huge driftwood logs stranded on the rocks and foot path.
All in all it was a very convivial way for the Snapping stalwarts to ease themselves back into the comradeship that photography offers.
