The Annual House Dinner is a key event in the Bristol 1904 Arts calendar. Shame then we missed our Centenary Dinner and even what we were calling our Centenary +1 Dinner, due to that dastardly COVID ... so you can imagine the anticipation when finally we could celebrate our House Dinner, very recently.
After a starter of Smoke Salmon Pillows with Lobster and Crab served with Rocket Leaves and Marie Rose Dressing we enjoyed a main dish of most beautiful Dijon Roasted Rack of Lamb stuffed with Mint Mousse served with a Red Wine Jus and Crushed Herb New Potatoes and accompanying vegetable selection ... mmm good; makes your mouth water, doesn't it?
Our Master of Ceremonies for the evening was the ever suave and entertaining David Baker. As part of the event we had a draw for two very fine paintings by our Red Feather Artists; Tim Wilmot (a Harbour Boat Scene) and Michael Long (a Landscape).
Our top table included amongst others, the Queens Representative, the Lord Lieutenant of Bristol - Mrs. Peaches Golding; the Deputy Lord Mayor of Bristol - Andrew Varney and his consort Cllr. Jos Clark; CEO of The Beacon - Ms. Louise Mitchell, the landmark Concert Hall in Bristol and facilitator of the Bristol Music Trust; our guest Principal Speaker - Sir John Royce; President of the Grateful Society - Prof. Bhupinder Sandhu; Master of the Antient Society of St. Stephen's Ringers - Judge James Patrick; our own President - John Bedford and Chairman - Michael Newstead.
Entertainment was provided after the dinner by our own Blue Feather Entertainers, Michael Lunts - performing one-man show theatricality and song with piano, reminiscent of days of Noël Coward and for something completely different and more up to date; Steve Price on guitar singing country and soft rock songs.
Afterwards we were complimented by our VIP guests and members alike on the fantastic presentation of food, delightfully professional entertainment and the ambience that is unique to our main hall with all its wonderful artefacts and curiosities.
At last the Annual House Dinner we had been waiting for and so marvellous to see it go so well.
Thank you to all our VIP Guests, our Entertainers, Catering and all the many others that contributed to make it happen.
